Working with Rainwater
Back in January 2009, WaterShapes ran a big article on the team effort involved in installing the first-generation rainwater-harvesting system developed by the folks at Aquascape (St. Charles, Ill.).
Ed Beaulieu’s article (linked below) went into great detail on how everything came together, so I won’t duplicate that information here. But I feel obliged to stress the point that a large number of Aquascape-certified installers traveled to be on hand to witness the process so we could all take the information, technology and techniques home with us.
While we all were toiling on a site that must have looked like a beehive most of the time we were there, I stepped back when I could to videotape the process as it unfolded. When I returned to my office, I edited everything down to the two brief segments linked below and posted them on YouTube.
Although it’s very clear that we were all fully engaged in the many tasks at hand, what doesn’t come through so clearly is how stoked we were to be part of this event: We all felt like pioneers and absorbed as much information as we could, with each of us figuring out ways to apply the lessons about assembling these eco-friendly, water-conserving and mercifully well-hidden systems.
As you’ll see, it was a great learning experience.
