Exotic Inspiration
This is a rather unusual Travelogue: I’d sat down to write a blog about the influence of hotel and resort pools on the way homeowners develop expectations of what can be done in their own backyards, and I recognized almost immediately that a few pictures were worth thousands of words.
In fact, my thinking along these lines had been sparked by an Internet item entitled “World’s Most Incredible Hotel Swimming Pools” (linked below). The projects shown are spectacular and well worth a visit, but I’d initially dismissed the piece as Travelogue material because I’ve never been out to see these pools with my own eyes.
But then it occurred to me: The point I wanted to make about the foundations of consumer expectations could be made with this or any other list of good hotel or resort pools. These are the places where many prospective clients see their first vanishing edges, their first fire effects, their first perimeter overflows, their first in-deck laminar jets and their first of a whole host of other features and details that can be translated into residential dreams back home.
I’m sure many of you could develop lists of your own favorite hotel/resort pools, and I’d be surprised if your clients couldn’t do the same. It’s all about inspiration – and figuring out ways to achieve (and improve on) these designs and details in your own clients’ backyards.
