Elite Instruction
Watershape University encompasses a range of educational ideals and attributes that we believe set us apart from other educational resources focused on constructing swimming pools and other types of decorative and recreational water. We take pride in working to be the best at helping others raise their sights and up their game.

Watershape University’s greatest distinction is arguably the unparalleled excellence of our instructors. Our faculty represents the highest set of principles and standards for watershaping expertise and instruction experience. We believe our faculty is the finest assembly of teachers the watershaping industry has ever seen.
Their years of experience both in professional practice and in the classroom, the level of detail and insight they deliver, their bodies of work, and more than anything else, their shared commitment to elevating the trade – these are the qualities that our instructors bring with them when they step up in front of a class or deliver a presentation online.
As examples, here are a few watershaping luminaries we proudly present in upcoming live and online programs:
Dave Penton, IWI, co-founder of Ask the Masters and president of Fluid Dynamics and Kevin Cobabe, IWI and president of Dynamic Pool & Spa Construction are great friends and collaborators on projects in Southern California. Penton is known for plumbing elaborate, one- of-a-kind watershapes while Cobabe’s passion lies in immaculate equipment sets.
Both are constant contributors to the Ask the Masters Facebook group, which is the place the industry goes to get its questions answered. They are bringing basic knowledge and techniques to the industry through a course they created for Watershape University CON 3341 Essential Plumbing Installation. The next offering is Thursday, March 10 in Long Beach, CA at the Western Pool & Spa Show.
David Peterson, P.E., IWI is co-founder of Watershape University and principal owner of Watershape Consulting. He blends the resources of both entities to enrich the students’ learning experience and provide software solutions to real world construction and engineering issues in the pool and spa industry. This is most apparent in ENG 2311 Essential Fluid Engineering, available online, and its advanced counterpart ENG 4311, which set for Monday, Mar 14 – Tuesday, Mar 15 in Charleston, SC.
In April, Watershape University looks forward to offering DESIGN WILMINGTON, where the in-person portions of three blended Essential courses in the WU curriculum occur on three consecutive days: April 28 – 30:
- DESIGN 2131 SketchUp Workshop for Beginners; Instructor David Peterson
- DESIGN 2211 Essential Principles of Design; Instructor Kurt Kraisinger, PLA, LEED AP co-founder of Tributary Revelations and principal of LORAX Design Group
- DESIGN 2611 Essential Color Theory, Materials & Textures; Instructor Anna Shay, ASID principal of Solanna Design & Development, LLC, a boutique firm specializing in outdoor living for sophisticated clients in CA, NV and other locales
A highlight of the Wilmington courses will be a tour of the nearby Bradford Products facility along with networking opportunities with their sales and technical staff.
