A Construction Tour de Force

Watershape University
Watershape University

Watershape University proudly introduces its most comprehensive online educational offering to date – CON 2211:  Essential Pool Construction Workshop. It’s all about understanding essential construction processes needed to competently construct swimming pools, and other concrete structures that contain decorative and/or recreational water.

Providing online content has become a necessary preoccupation for educators throughout society. Knowing that the watershapes industry is overrun with demand and facing severe labor shortages, Watershape University has stepped into the breach with a host of digital, mostly live online courses, such as Advanced Fluid Engineering and the parade of topical Wolfpack Webinar Wednesdays. Collectively these offerings have necessarily replaced in-person instruction during the pandemic.

As part of that broad effort to support the industry’s educational needs during this extraordinary time, WU is introducing its crowning digital achievement to date, Construction 2111: Essential Pool Construction Workshop. The 24-hour course is designed to deliver definitive basic pool-construction knowledge across critical topic areas. Students earn. 2.4 continuing education units and, more importantly, will come away with a comprehensive understanding of how to build a swimming pool that meets applicable standards and exceeds consumer expectations.

The course is broken into 22 segments that the students can take on-demand from the comfort of their home and office. Throughout the training, students carefully examine the key elements of swimming pool construction with a focus on how basic engineering directly determines construction methods and details.

The curriculum covers: basic engineering principles; construction phases including layout, forming, shotcrete, waterproofing, tile and coping, all with an eye toward exceeding standards and best practices with respect to utilities and other safety considerations. The program also highlights concrete placement, plaster prep and application and start-up methods.

Learning outcomes include:

[] List engineering disciplines: geotechnical, hydraulic, structural and electrical.

[] Examine project layout, form design/construction, shotcrete application and waterproofing measures.

[] Define artisan points and disciplines: tile and coping, decking, plaster preparations, cementitious finishes and material science.

[] Discuss pool start-up procedures, execution of punch list and project hand over.

Students will receive a printed and/or downloadable companion construction manual, and will have ongoing access to the course for repeat viewing. Receiving the CEUs requires a passing grade on the course’s mini exams throughout the 24 hours of instruction, as well as a student evaluation.

The cost is $1,500.00
