As community aquatic facilities go, the La Mirada Regional Aquatics Facility – known more familiarly as ‘Splash’ – stands as a model of both creative watershaping and a city’s commitment to a grand-scale project. Here, aquatic designer Patricia Soto of the design/engineering firm Counsilman-Hunsaker describes the southern California facility’s evolution and design scheme as well as the details that are making it a beacon for local citizens.
